Chet Sharma

Stepping back to step forward in Indian cuisine

Chet’s culinary intrigue, coupled with his academic and scientific interests, have made for an impressive and expansive career in hospitality. During his university studies, which ultimately led to a PhD in physics from the University of Oxford, Sharma worked part-time at a number of London’s leading Michelin-starred restaurants, Benares and Locanda Locatelli. In 2012, following the completion of his PhD, Sharma moved to San Sebastián in Spain to work under the tutelage of Andoni Aduriz at the world-famous two Michelin-starred Mugaritz. On his return to the UK, Sharma joined Simon Rogan’s Umbel Restaurant Group as Director of Research and Development. Sharma continued to hone his passion for produce-led cooking, joining Mark Birchall’s team to open the now two Michelin-starred Moor Hall, West Lancashire, and the late two Michelin-starred London restaurant The Ledbury. In September 2021 Chet opened his debut restaurant BiBi to critical acclaim and within six months was featured within OFM’s 50 list and shortlisted for GQ’s ‘Best Restaurant’ and The National Restaurant Award’s ‘Chef of the Year’.
