Best began working as an electrician in WA gold mines before finding his true calling in the kitchen. His talent & passion propelled him to win Sydney’s best young chef 1995 & he opened his first restaurant, Peninsula Bistro, earning rave reviews. Eager to hone his skills, he worked at renowned Michelin-starred restaurants including L’Arpège & Le Manoir Aux Quatre Saisons.
Returning to Australia, Best opened his seminal restaurant, Marque (1999). Over the next decade, Marque earned a slew of accolades, spending three consecutive years on the S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best list.
He has worked as a culinary advisor & brand consultant and has been an active ambassador for Australian produce & cuisine. An author, photographer, & television personality, appearances on shows like MasterChef Australia & Netflix’s The Final Table have introduced his talents to global audiences.
