Sinéad O’Brien is the founder and creator of the Mungo Murphy’s Seaweed Co. brand. Before joining her mother Cindy in working on her land-based abalone aquaculture farm in Connemara, Sinead worked in the Houses of the Oireachtas as a legal researcher. During this time, she learned that the world of politics is painfully self-absorbed and too slow to react to and plan for the climate crisis that we all face. She joined Cindy on the farm in 2018 as she felt it important that Ireland should develop an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible aquaculture sector. She is still working towards this goal despite many bureaucratic obstacles.
