Tala Bashmi is referred to as the Voice of Modern Bahraini Cuisine, her passion for cooking began at a young age; her knowledge of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine & ingredients comes from her father. She first launched Baked by T, which was a phenomenal success. Tala obtained her master’s at the Culinary Arts Academy in Switzerland, & worked alongside renowned chefs at Michelin-starred restaurant Prisma & Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois. Bashmi reached the Top Chef MENA final, this success led to opening Fusions by Tala at the five-star Gulf Hotel in Bahrain.
She was awarded Best Female Chef MENA by The World’s 50 Best (2022) and her restaurant was awarded the #3 Best Restaurant in the region. Bashmi’s inspiration to transform traditional dishes into modern creations while still capturing the essence & flavours of the original form comes from many places. Despite her achievements & success, Bashmi remains grounded & humble. She believes that cooking connects people from diverse backgrounds & cultures; her goal is to bring people together through food.
